AT&T Unlock Policy (2026 Requirements)
AT&T requires devices to meet specific criteria before issuing an unlock code or pushing an over-the-air (OTA) unlock request to Apple/Google servers. Unlike Verizon, AT&T devices are locked by default until requested.
| Account Type | Time on Network Requirement | Financial Status |
|---|---|---|
| Postpaid (Contract/Installment) | 60 Days Active Service | Fully Paid Off / Contract Complete |
| Prepaid (GoPhone) | 6 months (180 days) Active Service | Account Active / Not Negatively Balanced |
| Military Deployment | No Minimum (Orders Required) | Current on Payments (Does not need to be paid off) |
Furthermore, the device must not be reported lost, stolen, or involved with fraud. It must not be active on another AT&T account.
