Travel connected, not surprised

Build the line plan before the airport.

Verify the device, carrier lock, regional model, data settings, and recovery channels before moving a number or installing a travel eSIM.

Compatibility has layers

“Supports eSIM” is only the first question.

01

Exact model

Regional variants may use different radios, physical SIM slots, or eSIM capabilities.

02

Carrier lock

An eSIM does not override a network restriction placed by the original carrier.

03

Network bands

The device must support the destination carrier's radio bands and certification requirements.

04

Line behavior

Voice, SMS, data, Wi-Fi calling, and dual-line features vary by carrier and country.

Safe activation record

Treat the QR code like a credential.

A carrier-issued eSIM QR code or manual activation code may be single-use and tied to your line. Never post it, forward it casually, or include it in a board question.

Keep the old line until testing is complete.

Do not delete an existing eSIM, cancel the original account, or discard a physical SIM until the new line handles calls, messages, data, and account verification.

Verify before buying

Model, lock status, bands, destination coverage, and refund terms.

Label both lines

Use clear names such as Home and Travel before selecting defaults.

Control roaming

Disable home-line data roaming unless the plan explicitly covers it.

Test recovery messages

Make sure trusted-number codes and account alerts remain reachable.
