Before you start: You must be able to sign in to the Google Account that was on the device.

Data loss: Clearing a forgotten lock erases the phone.

Sony Xperia, ASUS Zenfone and Nothing phones all run close to stock Android with no additional account lock. Recovery is a Google Account job. The real constraint is how few service centres these brands have.

Straightforward on the device side

None of these three adds a manufacturer reactivation account. Google's Factory Reset Protection is the only account layer after a reset.

Recover your Google Account, check your backup, erase, and sign back in.

The thin-support caveat

These brands sell in limited markets. If account recovery fails and you need a human to verify ownership against proof of purchase, there may be no service centre near you.

Keep your purchase receipt somewhere that is not on the phone. For these brands especially, it is the only fallback.

Many enthusiast owners unlock the bootloader on these devices. Doing so can permanently trip a hardware attestation flag and disable some banking apps, and on Sony devices it can degrade camera processing. It is not reversible in the way people assume.

Stop when: The Google Account is not yours.,You are considering unlocking the bootloader to solve a lockout — it does not solve it, and it causes new problems.

Official escalation: Google account recovery, then the brand's regional support with proof of purchase.
