These brands run close to stock Android and add no account of their own, so a lockout is a Google Account problem. Because they sell mainly through prepaid carriers, a network lock is very often sitting underneath as a second, separate issue.
Clearing a forgotten lock erases the phone.
No manufacturer lock to worry about
Nokia and HMD phones, and TCL and Alcatel handsets, do not impose their own reactivation account. Google's Factory Reset Protection is the only account layer.
Recover the Google Account and the device side of this is solved.
The carrier lock underneath
These are the handsets prepaid carriers hand out cheaply, which means they are usually network-locked and often carry a long minimum-service requirement before they can be unlocked.
Six to twelve months of active service on the same carrier is common. That is policy, not a technical obstacle, and no tool changes it.
- Recover the Google Account and erase the phone.
- Complete setup.
- If another carrier's SIM is refused, find the IMEI with *#06# and request an unlock from the carrier that sold it.
Check the support window
Budget handsets often receive only two years of security updates. Confirm where yours sits before relying on it for anything sensitive.
Stop and get help when
- The Google Account is not yours.
- The carrier's minimum service period has not been met — no unlock is possible yet.
